Paris, France, October 12, 2017 - The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) today announced the Volleyball Nations League, which is set to begin in 2018. The league will revolutionise volleyball competitions, making it one of the most important events in the history of the sport.

The creation of the tournament was announced in October 2017 as a joint project between the FIVB, the IMG and 21 national federations. The Nations League replaced the World Grand Prix, a former annual women's international event that ran between 1993 and 2017.

The 2021 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League is the third edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League, an annual women's international volleyball tournament. 2021 version of VNL originally was scheduled to start earlier than the previous edition due to the 2020 Summer Olympics in July.
